Well the 69 camaro sub frame was for a different project. Long gone now.
Iit is 1 1/2" (3/4" per side) wider than the mustang frame extensions under the floorboards. The outside of the frame rails are approx 2" further out toward the rockers per side. So I notched the original drivers torque box and welded it in. Then notched my new pass torque box and welded it in. I saved the front frame horns and radiator support from the mustang and will graft them on to the front of the camaro chunk.
I have a fresh 383 stroker that made 475hp on the dyno and will use an old muncie close ratio 4 speed. I will likely use the original ford trans crossmember and modify it. 9" rear with a 3.5 traction lock diff, and caltracs. For brakes I plan to use camaro drum spindles and hubs with vette rotors and calipers on modified camaro brackets. On the back I have Moser 31 spline axles with chev pattern and will use vette rotors and speedway brackets with eldo calipers for parking brakes. Should be really snappy and I will use up alot of parts that were laying around my barn. haha! I plan to use the Oldsmobile bolt pattern Magnum 500's so the car will look stock from the outside.

I honestly have to say.............never seen that before :) Must say your looking outside the box and using the Camaro for its best purpose, parts LOL. A Chevy died to save a Ford, how noble its death.

Well, I'm doing the car on the cheap.....using mostly cast off parts that have accumulated over the years. I used my budget money on new dynacorn sheetmetal body parts. It will be a frankensteiner but really what difference does it make where the parts came from or who originally produced them as long as the sum of the parts assembled make a safe and fun restomod. I guess ultimately I dont see the difference between adding a heidts MII kit and a mod motor to a vintage stang or doing what I am. I will drive IT! I will drive it like I stole it!

Give it Chevy power! Nah. Just kidding!

The difference is that those are Ford parts, Mustang parts even.

The Camaro subframe is def unique, but doesn't sound easy or cheap. I give you props tho, I'd never have the skill to pull it off and make it look good.

One might ask tho....why not just find an old Camaro or GM?

I do beat to the different drum! I already have a 67 chevelle SS396 and a 85 Monte Carlo SS with a Big Block.
I have always liked the 67 fastback body style and inherited a wrecked coupe body and a rusty fastback body. I'll have less than $7,500. in the whole project.

Wow, thats quite a collection. The 67 fastback is a great bodystyle. I have seen a few LS swap threads but non on swapping in an old SBC on top of the Camaro subframe. Is it going to be carb or EFI?

It was a motor put together for my buddy, I traded him a furnace and a/c install for it when he didn't have any money. 350 4 bolt main, 3.75 stroke long rod, 10.5:1 forged pistons, twisted wedge sbc heads, solid roller comp cam, air gap intake with a 650 double pumper carb. Lakewood scattershield and a dual friction clutch. Muncie close ratio box with a hurst shifter and a 150 shot of laughing gas. I'm going to add a shelby style main hoop with tie in bars back to the rear leaf spring pads and a front hoop by the A pillars and a dash tie bar. door swing out bars and front tie in bars to the front of the frame horns. Should be fun

Just giving you a friendly ribbing. I'm putting together such a similar beast with odds in the form a MGB GT with Ford gear. My hold up is track width. Either run OEM MG or big buck aftermarket at 49" no MII would work well. Some will say why not build a lightweight 65 Stang? I say why not an MG as I have a bunch of Mustangs is the answer. Sometimes the only point of crossing the street is JUST to get to the other side ;)
