well i think the money i just spent to have these guys look at it was the best money i have spent so far on this car. they couldnt figure out the problem so they had to go 2 hours but oh well they found the problem. it turns out the distr. that was in the car when i bought it and the distr. my friend gave to me as a gift were both bad! the one he gave me had a short in it. so they put a used one in it and sold it to me for $20 which is pretty good. the mechanic said i should get rid of that carb too. he said its missing the fast idle screw (i think is what he said) and he said it is too much gas for this engine. he suggested putting a stock 4 barrel on it, he said that works the best. i said what about edelbrock 500cfm. and he said not to put that crap on it(quoting him). now, heres a list of problems.
-rear axle seals are leaking
-wheel bearings and 3rd member empty
-start problem, missing linkage for fast idle cam
-blown fuses, could be electrical problems
-brake lines are not on hangers (front)
-brake fluid is dirty
-brake(rear soaked with gear lube 20% shoes
Good
-bushing and ball joints (for front) ALL GOOD
- brakes front 80%
so if that is all that needs to be fixed that isnt too bad is it?
