I installed the power rack and pinion the other day per the given instructions. It has a lot of joints and I was wondering if they were actually necessary. There is a carrier in the middle of the short shaft to stabelize everything but it seems that if only two u-joints were used, it would not be necessary. Its a Flaming River unit and I like the fact it came with a column. So does everything look well in the photo? The only advantage that I can see by having the third joint is if you needed a little more clearence for maybe the headers, and only if a longer shaft is used. But since the column end and rack input is so close on a 65, it does not help. Am I missing something?
