In my 69 Mach 1,I have the whole dash apart, fixing everything that needs fixing.Anyway,I can not get the instrument cluster out,I can see its being held up by the speedo cable.Whats the best way to get it out.Its got to come out.

You should be able to squeeze the speedo cable at the end and it should release a catch on the end of the cable housing. Then it should slide right off.

Both answer are correct. I am not sure what was used in 1969 but the older ones have a metal cap and they unscrew. The newer ones have a white plastic piece you pinch and turn as you are pulling. Good luck, its a tight area.

Squeeze the plastic thingy, and pull. No twisting required. Once the plastic thingy is squeezed, it will slide right out. If its taking force, you haven't squeezed hard enough, and it takes a bit.
