Here she is, Serenity, the car I've always wanted and loved but always thought it was way out of my price range!

Very first Mustang I ever saw was a 1969 Mach 1, it was what made me fall in love with the Mustang family and since then I have told myself "One day I will own this car!!" and now I do!!

This will be a long project, probably around 5-10 years... I want to ensure that I allocate my funds appropriately and do this RIGHT!!

A lot of detailed shots here: Project Mayhem.. In the Beginning

How i picked it up from the "yard": 1969 Mach 1 - a set on Flickr

Thank you! The only thing I dont like is they put purple glitter in the black... even on the louver and spoiler

Just got her home.. sprayed her off with the hose, not even a wash and BAM!!! Dont worry, she was chocked for real ;)

Paint still looks decent even after sitting in the sun for so long

Did you really find this in a junk yard?

@ Beau - thank you and I couldn't agree more, lucked out here! That EFI is coming out though

@ TCI Engineering - thank you! I've been meaning to contact your company... Really look forward to doing business with you, amazing products! ... Sponsor time? Haha

@ TTA89 - don't think I haven't thought about it!! With it sitting in the yard for so long I know I'd have a lot more issues than just the engine/trans... Ie fuel system, brakes, diff, bearings, electrical... Best to start fresh

@ Israel - I found it listed on CL, the guy I bought it from kept it at a storage lot that doubled as a junkyard.. The car was supposed to be off limits but over the years the radiator, trans and driveshaft were taken... No big deal for me! I would have paid $8k for the shell alone!

See about getting this thread moved over to the main board, much more traffic and input from members.

Why the coyote vs a 351 or even a BB? I'm old schoool, I like to see the original era motors, not the original motor, just that old school era.

I've owned mustangs (classics and newer) with many different engine/trans combos. Everything from the I6 to the 4.6 in the 09 to the 289, 302 (66,89 & 11) and 351W/C... Of those I really loved everything about the modern 5.0. And I really love that TCI has made the swap so easy with their suspension setup.

And I know they're out there, but I haven't seen a Mach 1 with a 5.0 yet ;-)

Great LOCAL find! Didn't think these actually existed anymore! Gotta love that circular hood opening with the EFI intake underneath! :)

Congrats on the find. Should be a great start to any build.
Do you plan on doing a lot of night driving?
I would ditch the 6 headlight thing. That is nothing compared to BUBBA TECH I had to deal with.

Why would he do that? This is what the gallery is for. If it was in the main forum it would be bumped every time a post was made and stay on the front page forever. This is why we need this place, or even better, our own build threads area, so our posts aren't all over hells half acre. /rant

I like the traffic of the main board, seem to be more answers to questions and comments,...no need to get all cranky. I'm glad that you like your build thread here and congrats on your recent win.

I do like the idea of a dedicated build thread section,....

That color is referred to as Aztec aqua (making sure the paint code is E5)E is for Aztec aqua, 5 stands for Mach1 w/flat black hood.. According to Mustang by the numbers (Kevin Marti), there were only 597 units with that paint/interior trim combination.

Excellent find.
