OK,
Now that I have a little breather, I want to re-open the idea of having a NorCal dinner on Sat Jan 6th. Because we are so widely spread out my concern is where to have it. So based on how many sign up for it, will dictate where it will be and if we have room to bring our better halves.

I know of at least (including myself) 4 peninsula/SJ VMFer who will probably attend. Meyer65 from Mill Valley. Stan from Concord. If we end up with half east bay people and half peninsula people then it can be on either side of the pond.

I'm going to make a deadline of this coming Friday Dec 8th for signup. Once the names and locations of each participant is known, then we could decide where it will be, unless everyone agrees to pick a place right now which I will automatically pick SF as the place to meet. Can't get enough of that town.

Quick thoughts from everyone would be appreciated.

I'm game. Have you been to Maggiano's Little Italy at Santana Row (San Jose). Great Italian and family style is one of the options. Keep me posted.

I have heard great reviews about the place. I think the best place which is centrally located is the ROCK. Alcatraz Island. I think all of us would kill if we could bring our Stangs to that place via a floating auto transporter.

So the real question is are people going to drive their Mustang or not. If yes then I vote for a place with parking conducive to classic cars; that would be a blast. I am taking time off to work on mine in a few weeks it could actually be running but no promises.

I hope to have my engine in at that point, and be stripping the car the following week for paint. If all goes according to plan, that weekend could be the "prefect storm" for taking her out. Oh $*(t, now that I said storm...

I'd be interested in coming down from Sacto. but would like to make it a SWMBO included event. That way she and I can visit the city during the day, then meet up for dinner.

I doubt I'd bring a Mustang, though, unless there was plenty of parking. It was a little nerve wracking, parking Scary on the streets of SF last time.

At this point, I'm kinda leaning towards Berkeley/Oakland area, unless everyone wants SF again. Maybe something simple as a Chevy's or similar that can deal with a large crowd. This kind of place can probably handle with rowdy SWMBO's as well.

If you are considering Berkeley/Oakland, parking will generally be an issue as most of the nicer restaurants in both towns are located in older neighborhoods with on street parking at best. On the other hand, Skates on the Bay (Berkeley Marina) has a large parking lot adjacent to the restaurant and the view of the City across the bay is spectacular...so long as the skies are clear.

FWIW, Maggiano's (San Jose) off street parking consists of a large covered parking structure directly across from the restaurant. Hey all you South Bay types...sign up for this event, perhaps it will sway the final tally!!! :p

If Chevy's is something we're interested in, there is that Chevy's on the water off of 580, which I believe is in Emeryville. Does anyone know which one I am talking about? Either way, Berkeley/Oakland/East Bay is also fine with me.

Anyone ever eat at Spenger's ? It's at the Berkeley marina.
I haven't been there in years but I remember it was really good.

I was just at Spenger's Fish Grotto two weeks ago when I was home. I love that place. I also like saying "fish Grotto." C'mon, it's just fun to say. "fish grotto"

I would definitely go to Spengers, but parking isn't so great there.

Isn't there a parking lot right next to the restaurant?

Actually making this a SWMBO event is a great idea. No gauratnees given my wifes schedule but if she can make it she will come.

I would rather have the SWMBOs there than the cars, it is the holidays after all!
