I recently purchased a car cover for '68 california special. it presently has a standard front mounted antenna. the car cover manufacturer provided a small circular patch if I care to cut a hole in the cover for the antenna. I would rather not do this. is there a electric antenna when it retracts is flush to the surface that I can purchase to keep from doing this? would the antenna go up each time I started the car and down when turning the engine off?

Just buy any electric antenna off of Amazon. I run one on my '68. If you don't have a modern stereo with an antenna power signal wire, you'll need to either wire in a relay or switch to activate it when you turn on the stereo.

Here's what I'm using.

My antenna broke off years ago and I fixed it with one that attaches to the broken stub with an Allen set screw. Now when I put the cover on, I find the Allen wrench next to the passenger seat and lay the antenna down next to the door sill. The car cover is reinforced with gorilla tape so the antenna stub doesn't poke through.

Mine looks like the one Retrosound has but I got it about 20 years ago, can't remember where and it was not very expensive.
