Anybody ever use the attachment for this? I can see where this might be nice for keeping the sand and dust down but before I buy one I'd like to know what is the downside.

here is a review on the one from princess auto
princess auto is Canada's habour frieght

I had a 2600 psi & 2.6 gpm washer which just didn't work with the sand blast kit as it states in the description that it needs a minimum of 2600 psi & 3 gpm. I went to PA and bought the 13hp honda w/3600 psi & 4 gpm and now I'm in business. Make sure you use 100% dried sand or it'll clog up very quickly. I had some chromed plated parts that I wanted to strip down and this kit blasted it right off. Both parts are about a sq foot each and I blasted them down to bare metal in all of 20 seconds.

Actually the new hotness is wet blasting called "Dustless" sandblasting, it keeps heat out of the equation and also eliminates dust. Using a pressure washer may not be the best way to get er done, but who knows.

I have been seeing a bunch of adds and promotion on the Saturday morning car shows on TV for this stuff.

Pressure washer does the same thing, just on a smaller scale. Check the video on the Northern Tools web site. Unfortunutly when 69Canuck mentioned his pressure problem I looked at the specs for the Northern and it takes even more pressure, 3500 psi. My washer is only 2500 so I guess I'll pass.

Thanks for the replies.

When I yanked the filthy engine out of my car, I taped all the ports that were open Shot it with oven cleaner, let it sit for a moment then used the pressure washer on it. It did a fine job getting bulk grease off the entire engine and made the detail cleaning a lot easier. After I finished, I used the leaf blower to dry the whole thing. The bare steel on my valve covers never got a touch of rust. The only other place that I pressure washed on the car was the underbody where the engine and transmission oil undercoated the car. In that case, I still had all the old paint/primer and it was not washed away.

A sandblast pot with pressure washer attachment does the same thing as dustless. You have more flexibility with the pressure washer and seperate pot, You can use both independently of each other, where the dustless system always needs water mixed with aggregate. I recently demo'd the pressure washer setup, in my area it seems to be primarily used by flooring contractors. Either way it makes a mess.
