Hello, never posted here before but I frequent here a lot and know it's a good community i'm hoping someone here may have seen something regarding my 1970 Mustang Coupe candy blue with silver stripes that was STOLEN yesterday 5:10am CST from Treasure chest storage in cedar creek, texas.

Security camera shows it being towed away by a late 80's early 90's chevy van.

It's been my project since I was 13 and is very sentimental to me.

Things that may stick out:

Billet grille
Big block 460 ford
Poly-V belt setup
Victor intake with EFI Bungs
Mustang II front suspension
Iron dove heads
Dual sump oil pan
candy blue with silver stripes
Fuel tank has a sump
Year One gauge bezel -autometer gauges

Please, please, PLEASE!! forward this to others and keep a look out! I can be reached at 512 281 6588 or jwirtz@live.com

Thanks, Jake

Inside job. I'd be leaning on the owner for the other tenants. If you are in a storage facility, with security, only a very few people know it is there and it begins with the other renters.

If its a gated storage facility there should have been a code that allowed entry into the facility. All systems I install use a software that records the code and user and the time it was entered. The code should come back to someone. At 510am there can't be much traffic in and out of there. Start there.

If I were you, I'd check with any businesses in the area that have cameras, if you know the time and direction, I'm sure you'll see where they went and maybe even a description of the crooks. That's how they found the Boston marathon terrorists.

I think that he's saying the perps used a means other than the keypad to get past the gate. We have a storage facility behind my house. My kids can get in everytime they kick a ball over the wall. They just use the safety door which is easily opened from the outside and once in it's very easy to get the gate to open. You don't have to key code out.

Good luck with finding it. I hope you do and can bring the thieves to justice.

Sux big time. I hope you had insurance at the very least. This calls for a discussion on evaluating storage facility security. What to look for, what to require, when to move on.

I hope you find your car.

send something to jalopnik, they post stolen cars from time to time and they seem to be found frequently!

It uses a beam or an electromagneticloop to open the gate to exit. Have them check codesthat were entered after 300am incase someone was sitting inside the facility. The gate can be manual opened by someone in the office with a push button which would not show on the software. Also have them checkthe DVR while your watching and have them go through 24 hours worth of video on that gate camera that way you will know what time they came in. Some facilities leave the gate open during the day which is wrong as you can't track incoming cars.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm doing all of them. If you guys have any other ideas please let me know. It's really hard for me to sit by doing nothing. It's even more frustrating because I live in a small county and the vehicle theft division only consists of one person who is on leave for Christmas....So no investigation at all until Friday.

On Thursday I'm going to take the advice of trying to put together some more video footage. There are few gas stations and stores on the road from the storage unit. At the least maybe i'll be able to find the direction they were heading.

Actually by the time I listed it the car was already gone.

I saw your post on mustangsteves site. Here's another for you to post to: Lonestarstangs.com also, west side mustangs (houston).

Keep putting the word out via mustang networks........keep an eye on craigslist too for any items that belong to you now being posted there for sale......in fact, you might want to place a "want to buy" post on C-list for a particular part that you know they got from this theft, and see what replies come in.
When the dirt-rats are caught, I wanna be the first to give them a "wood shampoo"......
Thanks, I'll post it to those sites too. But we do have one problem, your'e going to have to be second in line!

back a few generations, Texans had a good treatment for horse thieves that discouraged a future repeat of the crime. Too bad the tradition was set aside.
I hope you recover the car and catch the lowlife SOB that stole it.

True, but we now have a saying in Texas these days, "We don't call 911"!

I pray that you find your car and justice is done. If you have not done so already, file a police report for the stolen property. I am always on the lookout on Craigslist in TX for a 65/66 fastback project, will keep an eye out for your 70 in my searches.

If you are lucky enough to get it back I would sell it for a hell of alot more than 1500.

Best of luck for a Xmas day call from the police to say your car is found!

I ALWAYS notice when I drive by another classic Mustang. I will keep my eyes open. I'm so sorry for you. I lost a 68 Fastback that way many years ago and STILL feel like crying every time I think about it

460 installed. damn, wish I had a big block in mine. I'm in the military, they find the guy and you want him to fall down a set of stairs, let me know. payback for when a 1971 roadrunner/426 was stolen from me when I was young. killed my dog too. I liked that damn dog.

+1 on canvassing the surrounding few blocks to see if any businesses have video cameras that might show something.

Unfortunately you cannot rely on police. The ones assigned to missing property tend to be the ones that can't tie their own shoes without help. :-(

Stolen 70

I'll also put it on our FB page- we have 5,000 followers so it will help get the word out. Fortunately, Texas Law allows the use of deadly force to protect PROPERTY as well as life!

Yes, some. Still no news from the police, they haven't even been to the storage unit to collect the video yet....very reassuring. I went out today and did a lot of footwork. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get any useful video recordings. But, I did meet someone with some information. When I was telling him the story and got to the part about the white chevy van his eyes widened. He brought a picture of a GMC Safari and said "Does this look like the van?" Well, apparently that van was stolen off of his lot 2 hrs before my car. Now I really think my car is being chopped up. oh well. I just hope I can find the thief and chop him up.

I'll keep my eyes on Craigs List here in Dallas... I looked through the site just now, and the first ad I looked at had this pic. Not your car, but for a second there, I thought...

Best wishes in getting her back!
