I saw Shaun on here mentioned using the convertible frame rail boxes inside of the rockers - instead of using sub frame connectors. This allows for more room underneath for exhaust, etc - esp especially if you were to go out the sides with exhaust like a Boss302 T/A racer.

Can anybody give their thoughts on this? Pros/Cons?

Im down to a shell. Going into body shop mid/late October for metal work. I was going to have him weld in subframe connectors, but I am wondering if this would be better.

Basically looking for info on if it is a better setup performance wise once it is all said and done?? Car flex, etc.

At what point would this be considered overkill?
Im really not sure either. The overkill can cost - especially if you cant do the fab yourself. I have to pay for it, so I am concerned with cost too.

But I am thinking using the convertible inner rockers, and the one piece upper seat pan. Probably leave the lower seat pan off to retain exhaust room. No subframe connectors either. Then add the repop Shelby roll bar (for looks).

Hopefully this will be plenty enough, but not overkill. I too want to build a nice suspension, mini tub and probably run 315's max.

I started this thread 14 months ago and since then sold the basket case car and bought a different car. It has home made SFC installed already so I figured I would toss out some pics in case anybody is interested. The SFC are channels that are over top of the existing rails and they angle up into the floor. You can feel them thru the carpet behind the rear seats but they add clearance underneath.
