I'd like to get a tach in the mustang, but I really do not have a place to mount it in the dash. Can anyone recommend a good tach that will mount somewhere else like the steering column. It will mainly be used on the street, and I don't want anything intrusive. I am looking for more of the stock\vintage look. Anyone have pictures of their setup?

I have this one. I has a metal black crinkle case and a chrome metal trim ring. Mounted on the column it sort of blends in with the stock chrome and black instrument panel.

I like how it looks, but that is just personal opinion. Can't beat the price though.

How about the hood mounted tach from a Boss 302? Ah, there is one on Foolbay now, but be warned, they do run expensive and this one seems to be new.

Try Actron.com, they are the owners of Sun Instruments and still make the Sun Super Tach II, which is about as period as you're going to get. They sell direct for $60+ship, and include steering colomn mount bracket.
