Hi I'm thinking of upgrading my 289 to a 331 with aluminum heads (not sure which ones yet) but has anyone reused their power steering bracket is there normally drilled boss on say Edelbrock/Trick flow etc..? I know I should ask the manufacturer but if anyone has experience with theirs I'd like to here about it. This is a 1965 mustang 289 with the original power steering, its an early 65 build (Oct '64). Any insights would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dean

No matter which heads you buy you'll have two choices. You can buy them complete, have them disassembled and a proper valve job done and have the new springs installed that match your cam at their specification.
All the new heads have crappy valve work.
Buy the bare head, buy the springs that go with your cam and have them assembled.
Look up Alex parts. He has great prices on valves, springs and related items that are much better quality than what is used by most of the head manufacturers.
I got a great deal on a set of undercut stainless 2.25 intake and 1.75 exhaust. I also ordered a spring package from him that came with shims, retainers and positive stem seals.

Dean, normally, the heads have the appropriate bolt holes. BUT, even if they didn't, drilling and tapping a hole in aluminum is easy. My concern, however, is what is going to happen to those iron 65 C5AE-F heads that came on the car ? You're going to box them up and send them to ME, right ? Thats my favorite little Windsor head ! Which brings me to my question, why are you going to aluminums, when you already have the desirable heads ? LSG
