The intake on my 289 is crusty with the previous owners paint chipping and years of grime giving the otherwise pretty engine bay a bad look.
It's a C5AE-9425-M intake. The previous owner had done some mods, but specifics are a mystery to me. Has some sort of mild cam, cast iron heads (unsure what kind), BBK shorty headers, and a Summit 600 carb.
I got a little cash to burn and was considering upgrading the intake instead of having to sandblast and repaint it. Did some research and this is what I've narrowed it down to:
1. Edelbrock Performer 2121
2. Edelbrock Performer RPM 7121/ RPM AirGap 7521
3. Weiand Street Warrior 8124
4. Weiand Stealth 8020.
5. Cobra RePro S2MS-9424-C (pricey, but I don't mind it for the novelty)
The car runs good now, but seems to lack a little on the low end. I'm not expecting a huge improvement, but I'm sure one of these has got to be better than the C5AE I'll be pulling off. Oh, need it to clear the stock '67 hood as well.
Going through all the posts the recommendations are all over the place. Will one of these benefit my so-so setup more than the other?
