Should I add one now? I am starting a project. Swapping an 8 inch 3.00 open rear end for a 9 inch 3.25 posi rear end. This is for my 1966 Ranchero. What are the pro's or con's of adding a anti-sway bar in this type of vehicle?
I have installed one on my 69 Mustang, It works great.
Thanks.

I installed one on my '66 hardtop cuz it came w/ a complete suspension rebuild kit I purchased. It made the car ride like a lumber wagon so I promptly removed it. Unless you are carrying a heavy load in your Ranchero bed, I'd think your rear would be so light an anti-sway bar would be unnecessary. Just my opinion -- Dean

Six of one and half-dozen of another. A rear anti-sway bar is typically used to "tune" the suspension toward "neutral" handling, i.e. neither over nor understeer. If you have a vehicle that feels like the rear end wants to pass you in a hard corner a rear anti-sway bar can help. You'll typically find rear bars in vehicles with heavy back ends where inertia has a greater effect.
