I've got a 1982 Econoline with a 300 6cyl and a 3spd w/ overdrive manual transission.
The problem that I hav been having is the stick is getting stuck in gear and I can't get it out for the life of me. The previous owners had a string attached to the linkage and it came up through the floor. Whenever they had problems they puled the string to fix it.
The first two times the linkage stuck on me I could only shift from 1st to 2nd. When i pulled the string it fixed it. I recently got stuck and pulled the string and now I'm stuck in 1st gear all the time. I can move the shifter around but it doesn't go into any other gears.
Is there some kind of a linkage adjustment I could do to fix this problem, and has anyone else ever had this problem.
