Installed a new vacuum modulator (green stripe) with a 1.63 pin. As I installed the push in modulator, I noticed resistance, as if the pin was too long. I could feel the spring push the diaphragm open for about 1/2”.

drove the car and it wouldn’t shift out of first gear.

any suggestions? Obviously, this modulator and pin combo isn’t right.

What year? C-4?

Some more good info here. Make sure the pin is sitting in the recess of the internal valve and not pushing on the face.

so this may be the case. I have an extra modulator and I made a couple extra pins. Using a 16d nail and a 12d nail. The 12D nail went about 1/4” deeper into the modulator. So, I’m going to swap out the pin this evening with the smaller diameter pin.
