Adjust the catch down to line up the deck lid with the other panels, though it will make it that much harder to close the trunk. It should get a bit easier over time, but mine does take a pretty firm effort to close it with the new weatherstrip as well.

When i first put mine on, it took much more effort to close the lid. Give it time with the lid closed & it should compress some and get easier.

Yes mine was hard to shut at first as well..I adjusted the latch upward to make it a little easier to close till the rubber relaxed.

 

I installed a trunk seal in my 66 convertible. I've put the open end toward the inside of the trunk.

What do you mean by this?

 

The seal has a C-shaped cross-section. The open part of the C goes toward the inside of the trunk.
