Turn signal switch question

I'm going to replace the whole turn signal switch on my 65 (wires and all). The replacement switches I've seen have the wire terminals already attached to the ends of the wires, but the electrical connector (plastic part) is not included. How do you remove the old wires and install the new ones in the existing connector? Is a special tool needed to compress the tang on the terminals to remove/replace them?

I just replaced mine yesterday in my 65 :).I depressed the old wires in the terminal with a small screwdriver and pulled gently with a pair of needle nose pliers from the wire end. They pulled right out. Also before you pull the old wires threw the column, attach another long piece of wire the the other 8 wires so you will have something to pull the new wires with. The new wire terminals will slide and lock right into the connector after being pulled.Good Luck

Thanks to you both for the info! I'll tackle it sometime this coming week.

In answer to your direct question, Yes, there is a tool for pin removal. It can be found in many quality auto parts stores for a few bucks. I found it simplified the transfer of the new wires into the old connector.

Since I'm a "toolaholic", I'll see if I can find the tool.
Thanks!
