In Virginia, vintage plates can be registered for a same year car. I have a 1967 Mustang and need to know where I can buy a set of 67 license plates in decent condition. Thank you,
Larry

There are places that sell vintage plates - used and NOS. A Google search will probably turn them up for you. But I would check ePay first. Probably get your best price there...

I have friends here in Texas that paid $75 and more for plates from one of these dealers. But I found mine at a flea market for $10.

Larry,
I don't know how this will help you much unless you know someone in the area, but I happened to remember this. We were on our way home from Virginia last year, and we got off of I-81 near Bristol, and drove west on US 58, just north of the Tennessee line. Somewhere on that highway in a small town in the extreme southwest tip of Virginia, just east of Cumberland Gap, we stopped in a small antique store. The guy had hundreds of old Virginia license plates that had not been issued. I remember that I almost bought a set for a 57 chevy truck I had at the time. I think he wanted about $15 to $20 for a set.

If you don't know anyone in the Bristol area who could check on that for you, just look in local antique stores. I see old license plates all the time.

Hi,

I've bought 2 sets on [censored], both for about $15 for a matching pair. If you keep your eyes open, in time, you'll find a set that are like new.

I've had best luck searching by just typing in the year and state name only. For example "1966 Illinois"

It will bring up a few other items, but mostly license plates.

Good luck!

I bought mine from a guy in VA. His name is Tom Smith. I will try and locate his info and PM you.

My plates for my 70 were in excellent original conditon and cost me just $45.00 and $5.00 for shipping. I was very happy with them.

Vintage plates are also legal in Arizona, however!!!! In AZ unfortunately for me, the plate sequence used during the 80-90's match the 69 plates, 3 letters followed by 3 numbers, so it is just my luck that those numbers are still in use and I can't register that plate until it is out of the system. So, here I can call DMV and have the plate checked against a current plate, hopefully you can do the same before you spend the money on a plate you can't use. Good Luck..
