Boy, This my show my stupidity. Is a white elephant gift something you give that you have lying around? Or Is it something else? I am in if you get it going.

I'm in also. White elephant gifts are things you don't want or need but that can be funny when given to someone as a present. Examples I have received:

2001 coupon book (received it in 2002)
speedo (used no doubt)
plastic spider collection (I hate spiders)
blender that only had one speed (warp)
8 track tape of Perry Como Christmas music
1 barell carb off a lawn mover
bottle of geritol (sp)

You are not supposed to know who sent it to you.

Please count me in. BTW a white elephant gift is something that is really stupid! It's not going out and buying something and giving it to someone. I have been to parties when it was advertised as a WEG and people brought really nice things they went out and bought. Most of the good WEGs were things you found around the house that would normally just throw away. How's that for a definition?
