Ok, chuck that quad and add set of WEBERs! I have an adapter LOL! I love mine on my SBF.
Now there's a tough choice: Quadrabog, or Italian confusion?

lol

Honestly, the old Quadrajets are really good, and Thermoquads even better (if the plastic's not broken!) I love Webers too, once they're set up right!

Interestingly, the Quadrajet was a solution to "How do we make a BIG carb draw fuel well at low flow, and get good throttle response?" Ford had the perfect solution with their Autolite annular boosters, but that was all patented, and GM sure didn't want to keep stuffing money into Ford's pockets, so they found a different way to do it. The small venturi on the front, with a vacuum operated airdoor on the back for BIG flow works pretty well for a very broad range of vehicles - though as many have noticed over the years, there's usually a short delay when you mash the "GO" pedal on one.

Webers are such an incredibly simple, elegant solution - it's easy to see why they have been popular for so many years. As much art as a good engineering design.
