I have been wondering what this bracket is in my trunk. on the driver's wheel well pinch weld?
looks like it would attach to the fender but it's about 3" shy of touching.
Is something someone added, i have never seen it in another car.

My car is 70' Sportroof, originally 302, c4, Grabber Package

At 1st glance it looks similar to brackets used for trunk mounted antennas. I'm curious now too...

I've been through 3 1970's now and none of them had that bracket.

Was it originally a California car? Maybe it's meant to hold part of the gas tank emissions system.

I think that's a thing on '70s California cars.

Yes, It was sold in Huntington Beach!

I had a 1970 Sportsroof made in San Jose with the California emissions. That bracket held a molded plastic piece where the fuel tank evaporative lines ran.
