Just wrapping up my '65 (11/65 build date) convertible rebuild project. Installed the windows in the doors but can't find the location where the lower, rubber bumper stop mounts. I did not find the bumpers in my post-dismantling parts box but bought some new ones from NPD. Any help would be appreciated.

Should be a slot in the bottom of the door looking from the inside with the door panel and water shield off.

yes, at the very bottom frame, center of door, The big black rubber block goes there., there will be a slot in the metal, to drive the rubber into,to lock it in place.

It can be a challenge getting it in the slot. I have heard putting the rubber stop in boiling water for a few minutes then putting some grease on it is helpful. I have heard others trim it a little.

Based on the drawing supplied by Woodchuck, there appears to be a bracket that the rubber stop is mounted to. True? I noticed that the quarter windows have a separate bracket. I can't find any "slots" in the middle-bottom shell of the door. The only holes I see appear to be for drainage and they are fairly small. The rubber stop I bought needs a slot about 1 5/8 inches long. What am I missing?

Do you have rear quarter bumpers? I was able to find door stop bumpers but not quarter stop bumpers. My quarter bumpers are smaller than the door bumpers.

My quarter stop bumpers attach to an L-bracket, if I recall correctly. The L-bracket attaches to the sheet metal framework at the bottom.

It sounds like you're missing that bracket. Assuming there's one in your other door look there to see what you're missing. All doors should have them from the factory.

I believe the early doors did not have the down bump stop
I have a 10-18-64 door that does not have it but have seen it on later doors

I mis-stated the build date. It is 11/64 not 11/65. Maybe I'm chasing something that is not there. There is not a "slot" or bracket on driver or passenger side, and the sheet metal is in decent shape so chances are a bracket has not corroded away.
