This is my first post. I have a 73 Mustang 351 Cleveland. It has a new refurbished 351 Cleveland, new 4BBL Edelbrock carb, new electronic distributor and coil, new gas tank and sending unit, 2 new gas filters. The timing has been set where it needs to be according to the timing light, and I have replaced the vacuum lines. The only way to keep my car from stalling when I take it out of park is to idle it twice as high as it should be. When the idle is set normally, it stalls out the second I put it in reverse or drive. Any advice as to what might be wrong with it will be greatly appreciated!!

@ Jarbergers: I appreciate your detailed advice. It makes sense as far as I can understand it. I will have to research and learn how to adjust my timing by degrees and how to adjust my advance. I wasn't having this issue when the car had the MSD distributor, ignition box, and coil it had when I bought it last year, but it kept killing my battery, so I changed it over to an electronic distributor without the box but with a new coil that came as part of the distributor set, and that is when this all started. Good news is that it cranks every time now. Gets frustrating when it seems we are going 1 step forward and 2 steps back! Thanks again!
