Window Rolls Up Easy . . . Rolls Down Hard . . .

Drivers-side window won't roll down, unless I REALLY crank hard on the handle, but it rolls up as smooth as silk . . .

As far as I can tell, it hasn't jumped out of it's track . . . Please tell me it's just a matter of a little lithium grease in the right place or an adjustment, and not a new regulator :(

And, if it just needs a little lube or adjustment, where??

TIA,

Rick

I had the same problem on my 65. As a test, I sprayed some WD-40 on the regulator (specifically the teeth) and it was smooth both up and down. I think coming down the weight was an issue and hence the binding.

Try that, if it works, use something that will last longer on the regulator, like grease.

Hope this helps.

Amazing. I am having a very similar problem and just put a post on here. I can't figure it out. I see no problems with the tracks or how anything works. I tried some WD40 on the teeth last night but it didn't help. Keep me informed if you figure it out. Thanks.

My drivers side was binding about 5 years ago. Can't remember if it was hard going up, down, or both. I rolled the window down and sprayed some WD-40 down the weatherstrip channel at the rear of the window. Worked like magic, and no problems since then. Hope it works as well for you. Good Luck!

I had the same problem with cranking it down. It felt as if it was trying to go off track. I had envisions of having to replace the track. Sprayed lithium grease everywhere I could find where it made contact to include the gear and the weather strip. Smooth as silk now. :) :)
