As I dig more into the history of my 66, I have noticed my grandfather had wire wheel covers and centers off of a 63-64 Galaxy. Does anyone know what the available factory options were for 1966?

Above was the official cap on the Mustang but was used on other Ford car lines with 14in. wheels as well. That said, if a customer wanted wire wheels and these weren't in stock or the customer had a preference, left over wire wheels from prior years or other models might be used if the dealer had them laying around. I have seen plenty of 65-66 Mustangs with your hub caps, much less on 67 and up models. Your hub cap was common on 64.5 and early 65 Mustangs, Falcons, Galaxies, Rancheros, & Fairlanes to name a few.

Below is the standard 66 hub cap, but with the optional spinner. Man, this one's beat up.

Hope this helps.

I always liked the factory hubcaps for 66 which is why when I owned my coupe it came with them, and I sold it with them. Back then as far as aftermarket rims were concerned there was not many that were affordable and I just couldn't put Crager SS wheels on the car....the most over used rim every produced. I always like the styled steel wheel but if I ever put a set on one of my 66 they will be the 65 variety as the trim ring ones are ugly.

I had a set of mint 15" wire covers that were very similar to the 14" covers. I have no idea what they were on originally, but they were oem Ford hubcaps.

I sold them to a guy that wanted them for his 7-litre Galaxy.

I should have kept them and used them on my 65.
