I am talking about the two little slots for the Wipers and (I assume) brake light. Most pictures I see have elongated slots with no writing under them. Occasionally I see smaller slots with "Wiper" and "Brake" under them. Why the difference? Are they both 1968?

You are confusing 1967 and 1968 bezels.

1967 is the smaller slots with the writing "wiper" and "brake" underneath.

1968 is the longer slots, and on the LH side the 1968 wiper knob had the word "wiper" right on the knob. On the RH side was the brake warning lamp (brake on the lens) and if you had deluxe belts, there was also a seat belt reminder lamp.

It's a hybrid. A 68 body, ONLY because has no 1/4 panel side vents which only on 67.
But.. has 68 front fender because of side marker light (note Federal law all cars had to have side marker lights starting in 68, front and rear) but can't tell if rear side marker light looking missing. So is it a 68 rear quarter panel on a 67??? As said has 67 instrument cluster, hard to tell what steering wheel is. No hood "FORD" letters makes it a 68, maybe. Hard to tell if front grill corral is flush mounted = 68 or raised = 67? "Mustang" name on fender is 68... Need dash vin for sure. looks like a manual top..

The red convertible is definitely a mess... Looks like it got quarter repair skins at some point. But if you look closely at the dash photo, it still has it's original wiper switch with "wiper" embossed on the knob, making the "wiper" on the bezel redundant. 1967 bezel in a 1968 car.
