Hi,

I am interested in purchasing a 1969 Mach 1 and wondering what you all think of the firm asking price of $30,500.00.

It is a California black plate car and has been a one family vehicle. It has a 351 Windsor, however, it is not the original engine but the current engine is strong and it has been cleaned up under the hood with new lines. The transmission does look to be original. It has only a small amount of rust bubbling on the bottom of one of the doors. The chrome on the car is in decent shape with pitting on some exterior trims. The interior is original from as far as I can tell and in very good shape. It is complete with center console (lighter/ash tray), fold down rear seats, rim blow, shifter, clock, A/C (doesn't work), all speedometer gages and interior lights properly light up, red floor mats, however, it does not have the original radio but does have the correct wood grain bezel (currently no radio installed). The door panels are in good shape and it has the original trunk matting and the original rims/hub caps. A few things to consider is they did do a color change on the exterior and painted over the original color. The car does not look like it has had any serious work done or replaced any panels as it is in decent shape. It does not look like its been in any serious accidents as there are a few dings but nothing major. I did not notice any bondo. One thing I did notice is that they replaced the fuel tank in the trunk and do not have the original jack/spare tire, but aside from that most of the bolts look to be original without a whole lot of work being done aside from the engine. The paint job is not great at all but the car is in drivable condition and starts up and runs. They have both original black plates and both sets of original keys as well. Any help or input would be appreciated so please let me know what you access the value to be. Thanks!

Way way over priced at 30k..what your describing sounds like a 10-15k maybe 20k car.

For 30k a 351 Mach 1 should have driver quality or near show quality paint, no rust, clean interior, clean well running engine, basically a turn key car where you add gas and go and only have to address a few small things...

What your describing sounds like a good deal if it was a low option 428 or a high option 390 with shaker in said condion.....but not a small block windor car that needs a restoration and does not have the original engine.

Just save your money and wait a little while. Interest rates and stocks are about to go up, this means hard-assets like vintage cars will be sold in favor of stocks and soft investments. That $30K burning a hole in your pocket will buy a lot more car in a few months.

With the next one you find, post up some pics and we can give you a real assessment of the car. Also, may on here (including myself) have looked at cars that are local to them, but out of state to the buyer, as a favor to the buyer/member here. Don't be afraid to call out for that as well. Cheers, and best of luck with your search!

Just piling on the answer way overpriced. Should be a really nice car at that price. Almost perfect. Matching numbers not that important.

A 1969 M-Code Mach 1 certainly CAN be worth $30,500. However, as mentioned, that price applies to a very clean car which needs no work. Likely, the sellers saw some very clean 1969 Mach 1 Mustangs priced just over $30,000 and assumed their car was also worth that price.

If your budget is $30,000, you should be able to find a very clean, very spiffy small block Mach 1. It can be frustrating because there are a lot of rough cars out there with unrealistically high prices. You have to sort through all those to find the very nice, appropriately-priced cars.

As always, I would suggest finding a local Mustang club. Attend a gathering, introduce yourself to the members and let them know you're looking to buy a very clean Mach 1. Likely, someone in the club has such a car or knows of such a car you could buy. You'd be surprised how many people own a very nice Mustang they'd be happy sell, but they don't need to sell it and don't want to bother with low-ballers, dreamers, looky-loos and tire kickers. If such Mustang owners get to know you and see you're decent person who has cash to buy, they'll show you the car.

That's all excellent advice! I don't have pictures of the car as I need to start using my phone camera more often. They did not have a Marti report, however, the dash and door vin matched up and when decoded specified that it was a true mach 1 with the 351 4v engine. I will keep looking as these cars seem to be hard to find unless you're looking to spend a good amount of money on a fixed up car. If I have any further questions I know where to find you guys. Thanks again!
