260 ENGINE????????

A PERSON IS TRYING TO SELL ME A 260 ENGINE.IS THERE SUCH A ENGINE?IF SO IS IT A 6 CYL OR A 8CYL.HE SAID IT WAS BORED 30 OVER AND WANTS $85.00 FOR IT.IF THIS IS A TRUE ENGINE WAS IT ANY GOOD?I DON'T THINK SO BECAUSE I NEVER HEARD OF IT LIKE THE 289 OR 302.

Yes, it exists.

Unless you have an early early mustang, you probably don't want this engine. Let him sell it to someone with a 64.5 mustang.

You'll be much happier , performance and cost wise with a 302. More parts, more knowledge, more everything.

I had a 64 Falcon Futura with the 260 and 4 speed. It was a spunky car but not a racer...

Hello.The 260 was the base model V8 in 63-64.It has a 5-bolt bell housing instead of the 6-bolt pattern that was used starting in 65.It was the the motor used in 63-64 Sunbeam tigers amd the first roughly 150 Shelby Cobras.The only Mustangs to have it where the 64 1/2 'F' code cars.It is a very durable motor.Also pretty peppy when fitted with a 4-bbl.
