Could a new Edlebrock intake manifold and 1406 Carb w/ Electric Choke be put in place of the stock manifold/2bbl carb without any modifications? If not, what would I have to do to get the older parts off and the new Edelbrock parts on?

Thanks!
Mike

yah intake swap is easy. take the old one out and clean all the crud left on the heads and instal the gaskets right and for the e-choke for a car with a manul choke, remove the cable and connect the choke to a switched 12v check the fuse panel for an acc. fuse and connect it to that. tuning the carb is a different story. you might want to search the forum and post if you don't get all the info you need.(nevered tuned a edlebrock carb myself)

Almost. There's a couple issues that will need to be addressed. The fuel line goes into an Autolite at the front right, but at the back left on an Edelbrock 1405 or 1406. You can just use fuel injection hose to run from your hard line to the inlet on the carb. Edelbrock sells a banjo fitting to make it a cleaner connection if you want. Since you'll be tossing your stock spacer, you'll be tossing the stock PCV hook up. On the Edelbrock, there's a PCV hook up on the front of the car, but you'll have to run a hose from the PCV valve to it (stock hose is too small). You can plug that port, and run it to the back of the carb using the stock PCV hose, but will need to get some adapters to make it work. Throttle linkage is another issue. I use the Mr. Gasket "Universal Carburator Bushing" sold at most speed shops, and through Summit. You nip off the last 90 deg. bend on the stock '66-/'68 throttle rod, and stick it into the bushing which has a set screw to hold it. Makes for a very clean, very functional setup.

BTW, do NOT run the electric choke to the fuse box. Every fuse in the fuse box is hot with the key in ACCESS position. It needs to be run to the red/green wire comming from the ignition switch, before it connects to the pink resistor wire. That's the only "correct" way to wire an electric choke in a classic Mustang.
