The 4.250 stroke pulls the piston pretty far out of the bottom of the cylinder even with a 6.200 rod. As a "weekend only" deal I don't see a real big deal. As a "daily driver , highway cruiser" longevity WILL be an issue. The combination was never meant to be a "high mileage" deal.

For those of you keeping score , the rod to stroke ratio is a "terrible" 1.458. When used in a BBC ( common) , the taller (9.8) block allows a 6.385 rod which is still "only" a 1.502 ratio. FAR from ideal. Both make a 347 that everyone worries about pretty good looking at 1.588.

Yes , I am aware of that but they still come out of the block at BDC . I deal with this every day in my "day job". Even a switch to a 6.300 rod doesn't help much. A 4.000 stroke does keep the piston in the block.

Lots of torque to say the least!

About the same numbers as my 87 octane 408 daily driver.

Rod to stroke ratios.
302=1.696 347/363=1.588 351W=1.70 408/427W=1.55 460W=1.459. "perspective"- BBC 454=1.53 BBC 496=1.50. Put an aftermarket aluminum head on a 460 and it's no longer a dog. I have a couple of 521s and a 545 that "might " surprise you.

stroked to 557, an effortless 500 hp / tq at 5,400 rpm.

I kept my bore at 4.390 so it's only a 545. Should make 700 on 91octane.

Just a comment. Is there a problem? If so send me a PM so it doesn't involve anyone else.
