64, 65 and 66 LED Sequential Tail Lights

Hello

I have the first boards back for the 64-66 Sequential LED tail light project.
These work the same as my 67-68 lights and use all the same components.
I have added one new feature. I call this tail blanking. I noticed that on the new Mustangs, when the tail lights are on and the turn signal is initiated, the tail lights will turn off at the beginning of the sequence. This give a higher contrast for the turn signal.

Features
96 Automotive qualified LEDs (these are the same LEDs you would find in a new Ford vehicle)
Automotive grade electronics
Adjustable sweep rate
Tail light blanking
Plug and Play, all you need to change is the flasher

I would like to build a batch of boards starting in January. Price would be $195.

P.S. For you 69 owners, I have the drawings complete, it will look nearly the same as the 67-68, just a larger board.

Sequentials

I got mine thru Classic Leds and they also have a lifetime warranty. If I remember correctly, their prices were right about what you have. They also have a switch that goes to regular turn signals, if you don't want the sequentials. Originally, I got them from NPD, but when the 1st set went out, I called the number on the board of lights. The replacement set what the 5th gen set and are a lot brighter and easy to install. I also got a set for my 69 and 65 K GT FB that has dealer-installed 65 T-Bird taillights. They also sell all other lights, like dash, turn signals, etc.

GTONAVY, those look really nice. I am assuming that is 195.00 for a pair? And I am also assuming that is for the boards only not all of the other components that was in your video. How do I go about ordering a set from you.

Right now I am just seeing what the short term demand will be. Once i have that, I will get some built.

As for buying them, we can do it thru pay pal and once I have enough built up, I will see about setting up an E Bay site.

Just turn the pot all the way clockwise and you have non sequential.

Those look great!

One thing I would do for the video is to install those and show them in action during day and again at night and then shoot a standard 1157.

This way people can compare the brightness to the stock setup. It's kinda hard to tell with LEDs how bright they are because they have a viewing angle. Maybe walk around and show them in action during the daylight.

Otherwise, looks great.

Lights

It wasn't meant as anything other than a source to check for competition. If you can build a better mouse trap--. There are quite a few companies out there doing this, so one would like to know what the competition offers and do a better job for success.

Me too. 65.

So, why convert to these? I have a black car that basically disappears in the dark at night. Absolutely anything reasonable I can do to make the car more visible and better seen at night is a plus even though it is not original. I converted to an led tail light on my motorcycle for this same reason. Also, the led's draw virtually no current and produce no heat. I have a rather large amp budget with everything on at night. Presuming the led plates are relatively well made which I am confident they are, they should last a very long time. I also have super bright turn signal led's in the front turn signal and I am going to do something to the head lights. I just haven't decided what yet.

These do not permanently change anything in the car so it can always go back to regular bulbs if I wanted to.

T-Bird

65 T-Bird lights on a 65 Mustang. These were dealer-installed when the car was new. 65 K GT FB.

The 65 T-Bird lights are a real enhancement on a 65-6!
Got a bang out of the "dangler" under the lic. plate.

Way back, when Columbus waded ashore, remember a club
in the Chi area......'Berwyn Bearing Busters' Good size group.
They all had "danglers" Cops leaved them alone as they only
raced on a drag course.......well, most of the time! lol!

Flasher modules are readily available at your local auto parts store. Here are the models I have tested.
They start at about $6. If you still have the 1157 in the front, you can use the electro-mechanical flasher. If you put LEDs in the front you will need to use the LED flasher from United Pacific.

The LED flasher is available online.

Hey All,

I just purchased Gary's LED Sequential Tail Light System which is reviewed below:

Easy to install, plug and play SAE automotive brake light upgrade for the 65-66 Ford Mustang using contemporary automotive LED technology.

The original Mustang brake lights are difficult to see in the best of conditions, and this I believe is a real safety concern.

The main benefit of owning this upgrade is the safety of bright, full, intense running and brake lights for your vintage Mustang. This kit is far superior to all LED upgrade brake lights available today. The last thing you need is to be rear ended because the driver behind you did not see your brake lights in broad daylight.

This kit also offers a fully adjustable sequential feature that offers attention grabbing contrast that will wake up any tailgater, plus it looks cool too.

I installed just one side for comparison and could not believe the immediate difference in the quality of the LED light color and output vs the standard stock light bulb. It was simply amazing! I then compared it with the available non SAE LED light kits (they kind of look like ones you get in hobby kits from Radio Shack) and again Gary's LED upgrade kit has a more intense color and fuller light pattern due to a more dense LED pattern.
