65/66 Horn replacement mod idea

I needed to replace the horns for my 65, which were missing when I got the car. I was frustrated by not being able to find any good used ones. Repros via NPD are around $55. Additionally, all the horns I've had on previous mustangs have been a little anemic.....

I luckily found and ordered a set of Hella horns from the catalog "Performance Products" (www.performanceproducts.com) that look almost identical. With a little black paint they will look almost stock (they are a little smaller than stock). They will need a ground to the radiator support that we'll have to fab, but that's no big deal.

Best of all they are rated at a loud 108 decibels, and the price is only $29. I thought this was a pretty stealthy mod. I hope to get them installed and tested next weekend. Dickson

Tell us what they sound like too. I'm not to big a fan of the horns that have the higher pitch "wheh". When I honk I want it to be loud, rude, and obnoxious just like Ford meant them to be! *G*

my stock horns were a little quiet also so i decided to hook up some air horns. i mounted them inside the wheel well- you couldnt find them unless you knew they were there. they are over 100 decibals and they are so loud they echo sometimes (maybe thats why so many people look at me when i do them!) well anyway- those horns you are getting are gonna be cool!

1. Let's hope they work

2. Let's hope they are LOUD. The last thing I need is wimpy horns. After 2 years of resto I don't want an avoidable accident because the other driver did not hear my horn.

Outta my way, pal !!! /forums/images/icons/wink.gif Dickson
