I purchased a 66 Mustang i6 last year. I am currently doing rust repair on the floor pans, and preparing for the interior refurb. I have heard discussions about white vs parchment and red vs dark red/burgundy. After looking at my interior, it appears I have white 65 door panels, and matching rear quarter panels. The seats also appear to be white. I cant tell what color the carpet was, the dash pad looks dark.

How would I find out what color the interior was originally?
Im also quite found of the red/white (seems lighter than parchment) and wouldnt be opposed to going with the earlier red on the dash and carpet and white on the seats and doors. Do they make a red 66 dash pad or just the original dark red?

If the door tag is missing your going to have to crawl around. What color is the dash now? Is it repainted? If so you should be able to look up underneath and see original paint somewhere. Also the inside of the plastic seat panels or kick panel moldings may show the color as well.

1966 red is not the same as 65 red. 66 red is much darker. The dash and carpet would be Maroon. I've seen it listed as "66 dark red" too.

White is a 65 color, the only exception for 66 being the inserts on pony interior.

A photo would be helpful here, but it sounds like someone swapped a 65 interior into your car. Maybe I missed it, but do you have a door data plate?

I don’t think you’re going to find a bright red 66 dash pad, but you could always use vinyl dye to change a 66 pad to that color if you don’t mind know-it-all’s like me telling you the color is “wrong” lol.

Is that the normal red dash pad? Look real bright. Are the seats parchment or white?

The electric seats don't appear to be factory the way they are wired in, but the underside of the rail appeared to be very well integrated, so at first I wasn't sure but after seeing the wiring I'm pretty sure they arent
