My 67 coupe windows have given me all sorts of grief. First it was the passenger side --- the glass could be pushed down with your little finger. Then it started sliding down during driving. I replaced that regulator. When I opened up the old gear case, parts flew everywhere so I never figured out what went wrong.
The driver's window has had a problem of rocking back and forth in the channel; most of the time it pinched the vent window weatherstrip. I went through the entire shop manual procedure for window adjustment. No help. I took out the regulator and found no real problems. Finally, I took out the glass and discovered that the two vertical nylon glides (part of the glass assembly) were worn away. I replaced both with parts from another car and it works great now.
Hope this helps someone else. The shop manual isn't real helpful when this happens.

Appreciate your sharing. Yes, these windows sometimes make me want to tear out my hair. Guess Ford never intended them to last 35 years! Imagine that!

Also, if they have trouble going up, before you replace the regulator make SURE the tracks have grease. Grease 'em up and you'll probably be surprised to see the window works like new!!!

When you aren't lookin for it,
you ALWAYS find it!!!

What kind of grease do you use? My passenger side window takes Hulk Hogan to roll up and down. I need to fix it before someone gets a hernia... :)

I just used what was in the grease gun. Dad told me it would work so I didn't ask anymore questions. One thing for sure though is you don't want to use anything that will dry or harden up!!! At least in a short period of time.

White lithium out of the jar. Tons of it, dont skimp!

But before you grease those tracks, get in there with a rag and paint thinner and clean out that old stuff. Regular grease gets hard and leaf debris and dirt etc really wears on those nylon rollers. Then when you finish cleaning them, you can see what the P O did to your car. In my case, he/she pried open the running channel with vise grips apparently to get to a roller. Luckily I had a spare channel to replace it. I too always use the white lithium grease.

grease out of your grease gun WILL harden over time, and you will have the same problems you're seeing now. White lithium grease stays nice and fluid over the years (don't believe? open up a 15 year old VCR and look for the white grease spots and touch them!).
