Does anyone know if it's possible (short of converting to quartz) to adjust a clock to keep good time. Mine loses about 10 - 15 minutes a week.

Yes inside the clocks (just like old watches) there is a little lever you can slide. While you're in there a drop of light oil may also help your problem as it maybe time for a clean & lube.

I thought that simply by adjusting the time, it would make it more accurate, ie: each week, set the time to correct, and it would gradually get more accurate. Just don't set it too far and go back the other way.

Thanks sixtysevenGTconv. I'll give it a try.

Crusty, Adjusting it externally hasn't worked for me the last 13 or so years. It was NOS in 1995.

I always have to adjust mine whenever I start the car. Of course, when I turn the car off at home, I always disconnect the battery. This might have something to do with the clock being off so much.... :p

not sure of the year, but there are some years that allow improvement in the time by adjusting the clock foreward or back 24 hours to create the right time this winds an internal spring that will cause it to run faster or slower.

I have heard that as well, my recollection is that if you move the clock back 12 or 24 hours when you reset it to make it faster.
