Does anyone know where I can buy the proper length PS pressure hose for my car? The hoses most parts houses carry are one-size-fits-all small Fords. Except it is too long for Mustangs and I have to find a place to put the extra hose so that it doesn't get burned by the exhaust. I REALLY need a correct length hose. I have already lost one hose to rupture on the exhaust.

You can have NAPA or a similar store order one for you. I went to a local place called PAPA auto parts, they have locations in MD. I ordered one and it was the correct length.

For 67 I think they made 2 types of hoses. The one I needed was the one the bigger parts stores never carried.

Because I have headers, the P/S hoses kept hitting them. I bent the metal tubing of the hose where the control valve was, but then it ruptured a couple of days later. I didn't use a tubing bender like I should have. That was when I first got into working on cars and I didn't know what I was doing. Since then I have gotten rid of the power steering altogether because it was such a pain.

I don't know the correct length of the hose which makes it difficult to get the correct one. I am getting so frustrated, that I am just about to call a custom hose maker to make me one to fit correctly. Of course, that is much more expensive, but it might be the only choice I have for piece of mind.

Actually Blu, getting a hose made is a better solution. It will be stronger less prone to rupture and the correct length. Best part is that it will not cost more than if you got one from a Mustang vendor.

well I have a 67 with power steering and I have a local Mustang parts shop buy my house. The only thing you have to make is that you cut the hose to the correct length because you'll get the hose that is always longer. Also I put a metal wrapping around the hose that takes away from the heat to the hose. It came with the hoses it had on the car when I bought it originally and I have used them and I never had a problem.
