I've brought a 67' mustang convertable as a project car. the car is being shipped, so i need to pick up the car from the docks. the car is a non-runner, so i need a trailer to pull it home. the question is what length trailer will i need to fit the car onto? thanks, ben

Hi Ben, welcome to the forum, you've bought the best Mustang type available!! /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif ...... of course I'm slightly biased. Did it cost much to get it shipped over the pond?

Overall length is 183.6 inches, width 70.9 inches and weighs 2855 lbs (six cyl.) and 3045 lbs. (V8)

Hope this helps.

Let us know more about the car when it arrives.

oh, by the way, i forgot to ask. what litre is a 67' V8? some people think its 5.0, others think its 4.2? could you clear this up for me (finally)!

also, the paint is original, and so are all the parts to the car. the colour (color!) is nightmist blue. i looked at the 67' production figures and apparently every nightmist blue car has a 'K' code engine. is this also true???

are you sure? this is what i found and it sure sounds like engine codes to me.....
Cyl Disp Carb Code
6 200 1V T
8 289 2V C
8 289 4V A
8 289 4V K
8 390 4V S

the table wouldn't fit properly, but you get the drift of it.

It depends on where the 'K' is located. If it is in your serial no. which should be something like 7F03K123456, which translates

7 - 67 year
F - Deaborn Factory
03 - convertible
K - 289 hi perf.
123456 - consecutive production no.

If it is in the following line from your data plate on the door, which could be
76A K 2B 17E B1 2 W

76A - convertible
K - Nightmist Blue
2B - interior colour code
17E - Date code
B1 - DSO
2 - axle
W - trans.

so your saying that it depends what order the code is in, and where it is located? wouldn't there be a plate on the engine saying what it was? how far have you got with your mustang?

The car serial no. is the first number I listed. On your door data plate it wil have both the serial no. as the top line and a second line of numbers which is the second grouping I gave you.

Right now my car is in a zillion pieces in boxes in my garage and basement. /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

Had it half apart in 1982, (pic below) and it was deja vu as I took it apart this time. Remembered almost everything I did. But I also took lots of pics and labelled everything.

BTW, where are you in England, my wife was born in Corby, her father worked at the Atomic Energy Board? in Kettering? (I'll check with her on the location.)

I'm in Hereford, about 30 miles from the border of Wales. I've heard of both Kettering and Corby. Never been though. Are you from America yourself? did you meet your wife in England or the US. Which part of the US are you in? Good job you took photos! I've got a brilliant memory......until i have to re-assemble it!!

Why can't a woman be more like a car?
They don't mind you going off with other cars,
They don't mind you looking at younger models,
When you want it to shut up, you can turn a key!

Born and bread [color:red]CANADIAN</font color=red> eh!!

Met my wife in Canada ... She came over with her famly when she was 5 in 1965.

If you notice just above the pic of my car.... Ont., Canada. We are in southern Ontario 1 hour from Toronto.
