So, it seems that no matter what setting I have the a/c controls in, the air blows mainly out of the floor ducts. Very little comes out of the dash vents and I can get nothing to blow out of the defroster ducts. Any ideas?

Thanks,

I believe the controls for the doors are vacuum. I would start there. Also, if there is trash inside or the insulation on the doors has come loose, that can jam the doors. You're gonna have to get under that dash.....

Well it better not be the insulation on the doors cause I just replaced my heater & evaporator cores and replaced all the seals, etc. I made sure all the doors operated properly. Guess I need to check if I'm getting any vacuum.

There ought to be a troubleshooting chart on the different climate control functions in the shop manual. Use a Mity-Vac and see if each vacuum motor will hold vacuum, bet you will find at least one than won't, or your vacuum source is leaking or disconnected, or your control is faulty. Usually the default function (i.e. no vacuum) is out the defroster or heater vent.

My experience:

1) My vacuum canister was rusted through, I patched it.
2) My rubber hoses at the control valve (LH side of dash) were hardened, I "massaged" them back to life with a name brand vinyl treatment.
3) The control valve itself was leaking vacuum, I squirted some name brand vinyl treatment into the seal and massaged it back to life
4) My hoses were all connected wrong, I got a chart showing proper connection and re-did them all.

Now it works perfectly.

If you need the vacuum hose diagram let me know, I will send it to you or provide a link.

EDIT: That's the link in the post before mine...

2 of my vacuum motors are dead. That's why all my air is coming out of my lower heater ducts.

Thanks,
