I'm looking for some information on the 69/70 Fastback models. Which ones came with the cut out in the qrt panel? Was this part of an option group/engine group?
Thanks

The Mustang Recognition guide, as well as many other books, references the differences.
Another difference is in the front side marker lights, on a '70 they are on the fender, on a '69 its on the apron.
69's have concave taillight panels and 3 individual tail lights. all except Bosses had the fake brake scoops in the quater. the front marker light is on the fender in 70 instead of spoiler aporon in 69. 69 has 4 headlights, 70 has two with fake front brake scoops.
only 69's had the rood ornaments.
Because the key is on the dash for the 69 and column for the 70, the steering column and gauge bezel are different. The 69 also used a rubber gasket where the column meets the dash by the gauges and the 70 does not. The steering wheel is also different, both the horn pad and wheel itself. Another minor thing that comes to mind is the difference in the engine size sticker on the air cleaner and I believe the brackets for the shaker assembly are different IIRC.
I was surprised to find that a 69 Boss 302 did not have the side scoops. I simply would not want one without the side scoops so I got to go with the Mach 1, can't afford a 429.
