Question - I know this isn't a Mach 1 as it isn't a 63C body code. Is there any way to tell if it is a GT or just regular sports roof without a Marti report?

It does have mustang emblems on front quarters, and looks like the grande seats with adjustable headrests. Can't tell if it has mustang above the glovebox.

Is a GT more valuable than a Mach 1 as rarer - or people just prefer the Mach 1 which drives value?

Thanks!

Marti is your best friend. If you have the original buck tag, you can garner info to know more about the GT option. As far as value, yes they are rare, but not worth as much as a Mach 1. People liked the Machs more then and they still do now. That's why rare doesn't have to mean more value.

a) Not without a Marti.

b) The 69 non-mach1 seats had adjustable headrests. The Mustang emblem appeared either way.

c) The mach1 draws more interest today, hence more money. The GT had more standard performance features, and weighed less. Of course, the mach1 could be ordered with oodles of performance features, like any other Mustang, so that depends on the individual car.

Yep. It is funny how many equate the Mach I with "performance", when it was really an apperance package... that, as noted, added a lot of weight in extra sound deadener (~55 lbs IIRC). Dual exhaust was the only part of the Mach I package that really touched on any performance upgrade...

The 351 2V mach1 lacked even the dual exhaust. :(

Since it's a 63B and if it still has the body buck tag and the tag says GT, then chances are, you will have a GT. But the chances are slim to none. For they were only 6,694 GT's built in '69 as opposed to 72,459 Mach1's.

All mach1's body buck tags will have GT on them cause the GT equipment group came standard on the mach1.

So, if your body buck tag says 63B along with GT, it would be a GT, but don't get your hopes up. JM 2 cents

I think dual exhaust was optional on the H code (single standard), M code and above it was standard.

Correct, cause our 69 mach1 351W 2V has the "original" single exhaust on it.

Back in 1986 when I completed the first "partial resto", I sandblasted the original exhaust (back to the muffler), and then tail pipe and put 5 coats of Eastwoods brushable exhaust paint on it. Boy, I'm glad I did, cause at MCA shows, the judges can't believe its the original single exhaust.

Some judges in the past have counted off points because of the paint, but others like the fact that it is the original exhaust and don't count off points.

It don't matter now, because I'm in the MCA Conservator class now.
