you could get a mach 1 with standard or deluxe ie mach 1 interior. standard interior came without tach where deluxe had one. I have seen several original mach 1s with the standard interior. also a marti report will tell you exactly what the car came with.

 

I believe the tach dash and center gauges were also an available option on standard interiors.

 

My Mach 1 has(had) standard interior and idiot light instrumentation. Also it has the mini-console.

 

The standard interior was standard equipment on the Mach 1.The deluxe interior,and gauges were both seperate options,I beleive.

 

Standard interior on the 71-73 Mach 1's was the standard Mustang interior (flat door panels, idiot lights, mini console)

The "Mach 1 sports interior" was available as an option on Mach 1's and sportroofs. It included:

+) Knitted vinyl striped seats
+) Deluxe 2 spoke wheel
+) Molded deluxe door panels
+) Bright trimmed pedal pads
+) Camera case instrument panel applique
+) Wood grained center dash
+) Oil pressure, ammeter and temp gauge in center dash
+) Rear seat ash tray, passenger side
+) Embossed carpet runners
+) ELECTRIC CLOCK in the left hand dash pod

To get a tach, you also had to order the "instrumentation group", which would delete the clock and give you a tach in the dash.

Full length console was a seperate option.

I'm real glad to hear that. I have no experience with these "Clydesdales". Had some "expert" trying to tell me it was not a Mach 1 but a cloned sportsroof. :jawdrop:

Its as easy as looking at the vin number.
02 = Sportsroof
05 = Mach 1

 

my 72 mach had the standard interrior once i saw one with the center guages i was like wow ive got to get some of those never did though

 

my mach1 (3f05)came with the sport interior package and guages, the convertible (3f03)on the other hand did not but could have depending on who ordered the car back when. I have added it to the convertible. These years were so optionalble and interchangeable that unless you get the full marti for that car it's tough to know what it came with or without.
