Advice on an updated distributor for my 69 351w

I have a newly rebuilt 69 block with an Edelbrock top end kit. It not only looks nice but is advertised to deliver over 400 hp and torque. I’m looking for recommendations on what aftermarket distributor I should use. I’m wanting an electronic all in one distributor proven in dependability that is about the same size as the original. A Tach lead would be a plus as I also have a Hood mounted Tach. It also needs to be relatively easy to install. Oh, and it need to be Blue!
Am I asking for too much here or is there something out there to fit my needs?

The blue part will probably be tough. All the blue ones I've seen are the cheap eBay HEI ones.

I'm using an MSD Ready-To-Run in my 302. It meets all of your requirements except the blue cap. It comes with a red cap and I traded that for a black one. You could certainly try painting the red cap. Ain't no way in hades I'd put one of those fugly Govt Motors HEI abominations under my hood! And it can't be described as small any way you define it.

I could do this I guess but wanted to see if there where better options?

1) I have a F2PF 12A199 AA Duraspark box, Is this the right one?
2) How does the Duraspark Hook up? has two plugs one goes to the Dist. where does the other plug go?
3) What Distributor do I need for this?
4) Will this handle 400 hp no problem?

A distributor does not care in the least how much power an engine makes. I have been happy with my Duraspark and it spins over 6K more regularly than I like to admit. :) The standard cap is blue over grey, but larger diameter. You could get one of these: Standard Motor Distributor Caps FD129

I use this as I prefer the HEI style male connections:

I use a Crane HI-6 to fire the ignition. Crane is out of business, but sold the ignition business to FAST. At the time I got mine I think the Crane was the only one with dial switches for the rev limiter. It a nice safety factor.

4. Yes....

Please make sure you have correct gear for the cam you are running...you will have to google it or give us more info on your cam

If I remember right, when at the auto parts store And they ask ”year make and model” ask for a a mid 70s car for iron, and for the steel gear ask for an 85 mustang 5.0 GT 5 speed. You want a torino or Granada with 302 to get duraspark distributor with steel gear. Someone else may have a better reference.

After much thought I'm going with my initial thought of wanting a one piece unit that has the coil and the module in the cap. The two I'm looking at are the Pertronix and DUI Davis Distributors. Anyone have any experience with these companys on these types of distributors or know of other options that are all in one unit for a Modified 69 351w ?
