Greetings,

I'm looking to find out the application for the following carburetor. It's a 1.12 and it reads "6P M" (see pic) on the base side not far from the venturi size and a date of "12-10-64" underneath the base. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

C6PF-M. Info scarce online but my best guess would be a service carb for a FE (352/390/428). Does not appear to be for an automatic transmission application and is not for an A/C-equipped vehicle. Booster ID's would be helpful.

Hi Bart,

Thanks for filling in that incomplete number. That's a great help! I searched online and found this on Mike's Carburetor Parts site:

FORD
1963-66
FAIRLANE 289”
C6PF-M
4100

That sounds about right as I purchased the carburetor from a gentleman from the Fairlane Club of America who specializes in those years of Fairlanes.

Thanks again!

Tommy

I'd take that info with a grain of salt... For starters, a "C6" carburetor isn't going to be found on any car with a model year prior to '66 and in that year the only 1.12" 4100 found on a 289 was a C6ZF-C, according to my Fairlane-Falcon-Mustang shop manual.

I finally found my Pony Carbs book- a P designation is a replacement carb. It's a 600 CFM, so no small block application. Most likely a 352 or 390 car replacement. The designation does not attach to any specific make or model or engine.

Thanks, Bart and Pony! I knew it would be a bit of a challenge to identify. And that Pony Carbs book sure sounds handy! Nothing like a great reference book. And yes, my needed application would be for the small block 260/289.

Thanks again for you help!:)

Sell it and get a new 4100 from Gottafish. it'll pay for itself in mileage and lack of having to keep adjusting it!
