Am I right in understanding that the build sheets for the pre-67 'stangs are not available? I think I read this in a Mustang Monthly but I want to double check.

Unfortunately, that is correct. I even wrote to the Henry Ford Museum Research Foundation to try to get info, and unless you find yours stashed under a headliner, etc., that info is just not available pre-1967.

What are the chances the build sheet is under the headliner on a 66 San Jose car???

Hello. I was wondering if build sheets came with all mustangs and where would you find them??? Are they hidden on the car or did they come with all of the original papers for the mustang??? Thanks!!!

On vintage Mustangs, chances are slim of finding a build sheet unless your car was assembled at the Metuchen NJ plant. There, workers tended to fold up a copy of the sheet and tape it to the main wiring harness behind the instrument cluster. That's where I found mine. No guarentees but that is the likely location.

Actually, we discussed this exactly one week ago:

And no build sheets are available, save for the few odd spares that people have found in their cars -- what's available for some post-1967 cars from some plants are invoices, and for 1967 and later cars, data from Ford's production database -- either free from Ford (at their leisure, and not necessarily correct or clearly explained) or for a small fee from licensee Kevin Marti (promptly and clearly explained to the degree you're willing to pay for).

Build sheets, OTOH, were simply one-time-use items informing the assembly line workers as to what they should put on your car -- then disposed of in any convenient location (which was sometimes located within the nearest Mustang).
