Restored to daily driver (plus) condition, would a 65 I6-C4 convertible restomodded with a 289 and V8 suspension be worth over $1000 more than factory configuration?

I ask since investment in the 65 coupe was $1000 and I still haven't decided to restore or cannbalize it. I figure if I look only at money, I could ignore the original title and perfect doors of the coupe. ::

Some people will tell you differnt things about this. V-8's are usually more desireable. Then there are always the people that tell you to restore it to origional. The v-8 swap would probly make it worth more, if you intend to sell it. If youre not selling it, then its all what you want out of the car. Usually people buying mustangs that intend to drive them, dont really pay attention to the origional engine.

It looks like you have some serious rust on both of them. That's the first expenditure I would make. Then, if you wanted the 289 in the vert, you're looking at at least that much what with front end suspension upgrade, disk brakes, etc. But, I would certainly pay 1000 more for a 289 than I would an I6 200.

I have to agree with the other guys. V8s are always more desirable. My experience has bee that the majority of people would choose the V8 over originality. The same is true for any desirable option (paint color, power brakes, GT option, etc).

All other things equal, a "daily driver" I6 -> V8 conversion would be worth $1000 more than the same still as an I6. That said, if someone were to undertake a higher quality restoration, it would NOT be worth so much more because of the significant loss of originality.
