So I pulled this motor out of a 1968 mustang coupe that I bought as a project car, this car had been sitting for 12 years. I got this car running that same evening and running decent, minus the exhaust fumes from destroyed exhaust pipes, I was told this was a marine 351 windsor and it has marine parts all over it and all I want to do is get a new carb / new dist / maybe water pump and i need to replace the main seal and oil pan it's dented bad. He'll even the fuel pump looks marine I know the oil filter is a marine oil filter / all I need to know can I buy parts that fit the 1989 windsor and forget about the marine when I purchase them

a hurricane does not flow well but looks nice it is chinese. look at edelbrock std for stock eng or rpm if ypou put a cam in oit imo.

you can pm me no prob.

post here too if you like.

use grade 8 bolts to install

use fel print o seal flexible gaskets.

use permatex black high temp gasket masker in the corners of intake.

Just a thought, here, but if the motor is in fact a marine application, the camshaft specs are probably not to your liking. The motor will run like stink up to about 4,000 rpm, then will fall on it's face. If you are runing A/T, that's maybe acceptable, but standards like more top end on occasion. Or at least that has been my past experience; otherwise, the setup should be really good.
Best,
Al

not its not staying on just ordered new intake and carb should be here friday but my new issue is when i go to look for a new water pump but for some reason when i look for the 1989 5.8L 351W they have the inlet on the drivers side and my inlet is on the passengers side / also looking to replace the timing chain cover and cant seem to find one that fits it either with a mech fuel pump any suggestions or know the part?

All SB Fords can use the same parts on the front of the engine. So a 289 cover will work or a later one from a 302 ,etc. Get the waterpump that will work with your vehicle, get the cover that will work with the pump. If you are using a v-belt, make sure you don't get a reverse flow from a serpentine setup.
