Got a new fresh air vent to install so I can run the wiring around it and noticed I don’t have a gasket. Can I use some 3M strip caulk or do I need the gasket?

Don't see why you couldn't but, IIRC, the original gasket was an open-cell foam type, kind of like household foam tape stuff. I'd "Home Depot" it.
