I've replaced my instrument cluster lights with LED. They look great but the highbeam indicator seems very dim. The LED is brght RED and works fine. There is a film covering the hole in the speedometer. I assume it was colored RED but it seems to be so old/cloudy that the LED light doesn't come through very well.
Have any of you ever removed that film or can you and replace with something clear or either RED? Since the LED is RED i figure that the film could now be clear.

I always thought they were blue? But simple. Remove it, replace it with a glass microscope slide cover. If you want it tinted, go to a hobby shop and get Tamiya red tint paint and dab some on the glass.

I am missing this piece in the 66 Ranchero. I haven't fixed it yet, it has not been a high priority. At first I thought any piece of plastic will work, but that could be bad. Some plastics are highly flammable, and you don't want it next to a light. I was going to buy something from my work place. They are called Gel Packs. They are sheets of plastic film designed for DJ lights. Here is a link.

Hope this helps.
