I got home about two hours ago after driving a total of 3,247 miles to Lacey, Washington and back to attend the National MCA show. What a great trip and am I beat.
Here's the bad, the good, and the special parts:
The Bad:
--I drove 3,247 miles pulling a trailer, and I feel like I'm still bouncing. California has some awful roads, especially east of LA.
--Got a serious case of sun poisoning on my left arm on the way to Washington. Ended up with my arm blistered, red, swollen, and extremely itchy. It's healed now, however.
--I paid $102.52 to partially fill my 46-gallon tank in Washington. Ouch!
--I missed my exit today coming down from Lancaster after visiting a friend and ended up on Interstate 5 in west Los Angeles. After my initial panic (which was a good one), I drove I-5 through the middle of the city until I finally found I-10. Nothing was going to get me off that road once I found it. Only added 40 miles to my drive today--ended up going 570 miles.
--A dust devil grabbed my trailer near Gila Bend today and tried to put me in the other lane. :horror:
The Good:
--Had a great time!
--Smoked salmon.
--Went up and saw Mount St. Helens and marveled at the force of nature. Beautiful and breath-taking scenery of both the recovered area and the still devastated area.
--Smoked salmon.
--Met up with some old friends, made some new ones, and got to meet more VMF members, especially some I've known for years.
--Smoked salmon.
--Had a blast oonvoying with members of BAMA Club. Maybe I can be an honorary member?
--My F-250 pulled like a champ and my trailer tires stayed intact. Murphy even behaved in the trailer.
--The Olive Pit store in Corning, CA.
--Did I mention smoked salmon?
The Special:
--Gold Award in the trailered concours class. ::
--Grille Medallion awarded. :highfive:
--Retirement Plaque awarded.
aranoid:
--More smoked salmon.
Yep, I had a great time. Think I'll sleep in tomorrow, however.
